Happy Independence Day from Stay-in-Bed Mom Blog!
Today I'm celebrating... Red, White, and You! I hope you get a little freedom on the "4th of July" to pursue some non-parenting passions.
Happy 4th of July! What do you wish to be free from?
As I celebrate Independence Day (United States) in my country, I think about freedom from the perspective of a parent. Buddha uttered "anata", which means "no self". Similarly, Jesus said "Deny thyself" (Matthew 16: 24). Some of the most famous spiritual guides advocated for a denial of one's self. When you become a parent you... Continue Reading →
10 best quotes about dads
Where's Mom? I want Mom. Go ask your mother. It's tough coming in second to mom. But as American Evangelist Billy Graham once said, "A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society." Let's sing, praise, and notice all of the dads,... Continue Reading →
Coparenting, dads as coparents
In honor of Father’s Day, I’m reblogging this post on fantastic fathers in the Animal Kingdom. I’d love to hear how your own dad or your child(ren)’s dad is king!

Dads are coparents. Don’t infantilize them. Don’t insult them. Give dads a chance to raise your children. They may surprise you. (And the more time dads spend with your children, the more time you get to be a stay-in-bed mom!)

Here are a few rockstar dads I discovered while visiting the zoo and browsing the Internet. For every “deadbeat”…

New Year’s resolutions and irresolutions
In thinking about New Year's resolutions, I felt overwhelmed and took a three hour lazy nap while my children slept. New Year's resolutions? Eff no. New Year's irresolutions? Eff yes. OK, well, how about one New Year's resolution? I can resolve to complete one 365-day challenge. What will I be toasting to at midnight? Cheers... Continue Reading →
